Creative Arts Psychotherapy

Overview

 If you are passionate about creative arts and interested in the well-being of others, our department is the right place for you to develop into a creative arts psychotherapist. Our department began in 2007 and is the only single-degree program that offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral certifications in the nation. Our department provides music therapy, dance/movement therapy, and expressive arts therapy programs at the undergraduate level. All faculty members have extensive clinical and educational experiences worldwide and offer theoretical foundations in human development, therapy techniques, and artistic expression. We prepare you to succeed long after graduation.

Course  Description
Introduction to Creative Arts Therapy This course introduces students the theories, principles and applications of music therapy with reference points in many areas of psychology, and psychology of creative arts therapy
Expressions and Techniques for Creative Artsy This course provides essential explorations and experiences of musical resources and art materials in clinical practice.
Creative Arts Therapy for Children This course introduces various approaches to creative arts therapies for children with diverse disabilities.
Creative Arts Therapy for Adults & Elderly This course provides an overview of various therapy techniques and explores theories for adults and the elderly.
Clinical Techniques in Creative Arts Therapy This course introduces various models and methods in creative arts therapy, enhancing students’ ability to apply effective clinical skills tailored to the client’s needs
Clinical Practice for Creative Arts Therapy Practical experience of creative arts therapy gained through a clinical practice. Students are to experience with various populations such as children, adults and elderly.
Internship for Creative Arts Therapy This is the most advanced level of clinical training and can only be undertaken after students have completed Clinical Practice for Creative Arts Therapy.
