Cultural Experience in Sunchang-gun ‘Making a Soy Sauce’


- International Exchange Center, Promote Understanding of Korean Culture through Local Festivals with International Students -


Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) announced on the 13th (Saturday) that it had a cultural experience of making traditional soy sauce and making tteokbokki with red pepper paste for international students by linking hands-on learning with Sunchang-gun (Governor Choi Young-il).


Korea in connection with Sunchang's "Sunchang Day (Soy Sauce Day)" to experience various things and enjoy the taste and style of Sunchang; △ Nanta performance △ Demonstration of making soy sauce with a master and craftsman of Sunchang △ Making Meju performance △ Pungmul Daedonggut △ Koreantabled’hote with red pepper paste △ Instant tteokbokki dish and Gangcheon Mountain trekking, etc


HEYANG (Chinese international student, artificial intelligence major) who participated in the activity said, “The cultures of Korea and China have a lot in common, but it seems that the difference can be seen more clearly when you come to Korea and experience it. After tasting Korea's representative soy sauce and traditional foods, I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the taste, style, and culture of Korea by walking through Gangcheon Mountain”.


Shim Young-guk, head of the International Exchange Center (Hotel Management Professor), said, “International students learn about our university's excellent education, through the cooperation of local governments, Jeonbuk is recognized as a good city to study abroad and a city to live in, we will do our best to become a glocal university where excellent global talents come and take responsibility for admission, graduation, and employment”.


Meanwhile, Jeonju University is pushing for a plan to further expand its English track department, which provides 100 percent English-speaking classes, and to attract outstanding international students from all over the world, including English-speaking countries.
