Jeonju University Department of Nursing Holds the 14th Nightingale Oath Ceremony


Jeonju University(President Park Jin-bae) Department of Nursing held the 14th Nightingale Oath Ceremony at 2 p.m. today(5th) at the Superstar Hall of the Student Hall.

The Nightingale Oath Ceremony is a sublime ritual that reflects on the spirit of sacrifice and service that burns the body through the candlelight ignition ceremony and pledges to move forward as a full-fledged nurse who practices the care of love and service by inheriting Nightingale’s sublime spirit and mission.

The event was attended by President Park Jin-bae, Han Byung-soo, head of the Graduate School of Missionary Theology, Won Jong-im, dean of the medical school, Kim Mi-eun, head of the department of nursing, university officials and nursing students.

Kwak Cheong-bin, a student, expressed his feelings about participation, saying, “It was a time to get together with my colleagues before going to clinical practice, and I will become a nurse who cares for the patient without losing my mind for the oath ceremony.”56 third grade nursing students pledged to fulfill their responsibilities and duties as professional nurses by inheriting Nightingale’s sublime sacrificial spirit through candlelight ceremonies and oaths.

President Park Jin-bae encouraged, “I congratulate the students who have completed the noble ceremony of taking their first steps as professional nurses, and I hope they will grow into a true nurse who fulfills their responsibilities as a professional and constantly works hard, and even embraces the patient’s painful heart.”

Meanwhile, Jeonju University’s Department of Nursing said that the Nightingale oath ceremony is more meaningful at a time when the number of admissions has increased by 31 from 2021 to 2023, and a total of 81 students are being recruited. Students who participated in the oath ceremony announced that they will practice at Jesus Hospital, Chonbuk National University Hospital, and Daejain Hospital for eight weeks from April 29.
