The Selection of Jeonju University, New Human Humanities (HUSS)

Jeonju University (President Park Jin-bae) announced that it has been newly selected as a leading university for the Humanities and Social Convergence Talent Development Project, organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation.

The Humanities and Social Convergence Talent Training Project aims to break down the boundaries between departments and universities to establish a humanities and social sciences-centered convergence education system and to cultivate the convergent talents needed for the future society. A total of eight project groups will be operated, with five starting in 2023 and three in 2024.

Jeonju University is the only host university in the Honam region and will jointly conduct a curriculum with participating universities in the metropolitan area (Dongguk University), Gangwon area (Hallym University), Chungcheong area (Hannam University), and Yeongnam area (Kyungpook National University) under the theme of “Creating Local Value in the Local Era.”The university will develop and operate this curriculum while promoting academic system reforms to facilitate material and human exchanges.

The Jeonju University Consortium plans to establish a foundation for convergence and cooperation between universities over the next three years, with the aim of fostering “Local C-nergy”convergence talents who will lead regional innovation and coexistence through “creating future value through regional value innovation and establishing a sustainable shared network.”Based on this, the consortium will operate joint degree programs and micro-degree expert courses specialized for each university.

Jeonju University Professor Lee Yong-wook (Department of Korean Literature Creation), the head of the project, said, “Jeonju University has always been at the forefront of innovation and co-prosperity, and we should continue to excel in this area. We will lay the foundation for transforming into a global glocal university by combining regional specialized values of culture and tourism with innovative values of digital transformation.”
