The love of students shines even more in crisis. After hearing the unfortunate voices of freshmen who entered the university but could not experience the campus life due to Covid-19, Professor Jinho Lee’s team from Jeonju University nature Chapel conducts ‘2030 Project, Jeonju University is Going!’ to visit students in person.

‘2030 Project, Jeonju University is Going!” is an activity in which Professor Jinho Lee, Hwangje Oh from the mission support office, and a team member KyungSeok Jo visit students who cannot come to the university to share their concerns and have fellowship time. While conducting non-face-to-face Chapel lectures, they receive applications from freshmen and visit 30 students from all over the country in person.

From June 1st to 5th, they met five students from Jeonju and Gunsan. They went to cafes and restaurants with students, gave gifts to students, and spent time to have fellowship and discuss about their concerns which were hard to do through non-face-to-face lectures. In particular, professor Jinho Lee’s team traveled 44km from Jeonju University to Gunsan by bicycle, recorded the process on video, and shared it with the students.

Sojin Jeon, a student majoring in social welfare at Jeonju University, said that “It was really friendly and fun to see them in person, maybe because they were professors and faculty members whom I saw in the video. Taking this opportunity, it was a great pleasant and good opportunity to meet professors.”

On June 9, they traveled about 260 km by bicycle to Jin-gu, Busan, to visit freshman in the department of game contents. With a 20-hour journey from 1 a.m. to arrive around 9 p.m., the journey was broadcast live on YouTube in the heat wave warning, drawing support and response from students and faculty members. It plans to provide scholarships to students who are struggling with Covid-19 through ‘Cosassa (Cycle Through Corona) scholarship fund-raising activity’, which is sponsored by faculty members and church members by 100 won per 1km.

Chapel has become a more prominent course with Covid-19. Professor Jinho Lee’s team’s interest and love for students have melted into the online lecture, which has been recognized as one of the most representative ‘high-quality online lectures.’

Chapel online course gained a huge popularity among students by performing missions, singing and dancing together, and communicating with students. Students responded “Listening to class itself is healing.”, “Looking at the lecture, I find myself laughing and humming along with the professor.”, “Professor has a high passion and says a lot of good things” through their own communities.
